Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Ensure optimal functioning of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing planned (preventative) and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment which includes emergency repairs and breakdown situations.
- The use of hand and power tools is required for all repairs. Which may include removal of defective parts and installation of new components. Repair and test parts / equipment on plant and production equipment mechanically and electrically.
- Troubleshoot and maintain diverse equipment including motor controls, BFD, refrigeration, mixers, conveyors, sensors, printers and packaging equipment, VFD’s, and trouble shoot PLC system.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards.
- Maintain communication with all departments and management in order to notify them of problems and / or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
- Ensure everything is documented properly and accurately.
- Utilize continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to improve processes as well as Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) to ensures food safety and quality.
Follow required safe work practices including logout-tagout, safe work zone, wearing required PPE, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
Requirements : Job Requirements
High School Diploma or GED preferred. Formal Engineering / Maintenance Training desired.Five years’ minimum experience in a maintenance technician role within a manufacturing environment, preferably food and beverage industry, most specifically – bakery.o Ideally more in a electro-mechanical role with understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, industrial maintenance, electrical, controls and able to trouble shoot PLC.
Preferred experience with ammonia refrigeration systems but not necessary.Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment downtime.Ability to evaluate, repair and operate production equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot, change, maintain and repair warehouse equipment.Welding experience preferred.Ability to accurately add, multiply and divide in units of measure in both imperial and metric. Computer and data entry skills required for CMMS program.The ability to drive numerous industrial equipment including forklifts, scissors and boom lifts.Additional task / responsibility may be assigned as needed.Physical Demands
May be required to operate machinery to trouble shoot.Prolong standing pending on repair or PM.May require sitting, climb, stand, walk / move, squats / kneel crawl / kneel, bend / stoop, twist / turn, push / pull, and flex / extend / rotate neck, and wrists, rotate forearms, reach vertically and horizontal. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Able to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays.Vision requirements must be 20 / 20 or use of corrective glasses and ability to distinguish color.Work Environment
Environments with exposure to noise, humidity, and temperature changes, more specifically if work is required in the cooler where temperatures is sustained at 34 to 36 degrees or in the freezer where temperatures can average -10 degrees to 20 degrees F.Products manufactured in the facility may contain allergens, more specifically peanuts and tree nuts.
