Job Summary :
The Substitute Teacher fills in for one of the two regular classroom teachers in their temporary absence. The Substitute Teacher follows the plans / guides provided by the classroom teacher or Director.
This position reports to the ECDC Director. Supervision takes place between the hours of 7 : 30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Essential Job Duties :
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Supervises children for safety and appropriate behavior
- Assists students in supervised activities
- Demonstrates a willingness to respond to individual student need
- Reinforce positive behavior management procedures
- Ensure the safety of the children by following all St. Louis Catholic Church and School, and State of Texas regulations, regarding childcare.
- Model appropriate play and interaction for children.
- Sit with children at snack and lunch time, modeling proper table manners.
- Respect the confidentiality of staff, children, and families.
- Knows all emergency procedures including location of emergency phone numbers and building emergency procedures
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
- Communicates with ECDC Director about any problems or concerns
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Follows direction and handles multiple tasks
- Other duties as directed by the ECDC Director.
M i n imum Q u a li f i c a t i on s :
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ed u c a tion a n d Tr a i n i n g :
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- CDA credential is a plus.
Experience :
Experience working with children preferred

- Must be able to pass an extensive criminal background check.
Ministerial Character
The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him.
He makes Christ's mission present and enduring int he parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or laypeople).
He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.
Positions employed at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description.
Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to, and assists the Pastor in, the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.
