Linux System Administrator

Location : Colorado Springs, CO - Schriever Space Force Base

Clearance Required : Active DoD Secret or higher

Travel : Up to 10%

LaunchTech is seeking a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining Linux-based systems while leading a team of administrators to ensure operational readiness and compliance. You will oversee container platforms, system hardening, and cybersecurity integration while mentoring staff to deliver excellence in mission-critical environments.

What You'll Do

As a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead, you will :

• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux-based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center
• Administer container platforms such as OpenShift, Docker, and Podman, as well as maintain multiple repositories and registries
• Oversee and perform the hardening of operating systems and ensure STIG compliance
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, infrastructure, and application teams to maintain system administration and compliance practices
• Manage and delegate tasking derived from project, sustainment, and break / fix activities
• Mentor a team responsible for installations, maintenance, break / fix support, and cybersecurity mitigations in accordance with policies, procedures, and service level agreements
• Develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation
• Focus on creating, upgrading, managing, and sustaining physical and virtual workstations
