Basic Purpose
Positions within this job family are assigned responsibilities on a statewide basis for implementing, analyzing, and maintaining security systems at state prison facilities. Employees in the class conduct feasibility studies, perform surveys to audit and maintain and make recommendations to design telecommunications, RF radio communications systems, closed circuit video surveillance systems, electronic perimeter-intrusion security systems and specialized high security mogul detention lock and key system. Employees ensure all agency network infrastructure cooper and fiber are maintained.

Level Descriptor
The Correctional Security Consultant job family consists of only one level and incumbents are responsible for performing all functions related to the assigned position.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic security systems, telecommunications systems, or related equipment or 2 years experience as a Correctional Security Technician with the Department of Corrections. Preferred : Experience in a correctional or high-security environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Knowledge of electronic telecommunications systems application, design, and maintenance. Understanding of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) laws. Expertise in perimeter intrusion detection systems and video surveillance systems application, design, and maintenance. Proficiency in high-security detention mogul locking systems applications, design, and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints. Familiarity with security and detention instructional techniques and practices. Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Excellent communication skills. Physical ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. Full color vision to accurately interpret wiring and system indicators.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel, including overnights, normally associated with this position and ability to work in all environments. The Department of Corrections has determined that some positions in this job family are safety-sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. 427.8
