Floods are the leading cause of natural disaster losses in the United States, having cost approximately $155 billion in property damage since 2010. Were an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, National Flood Insurance Program, and flood preparedness, warning, and recovery. A respected voice in the floodplain management policy, ASFPM represents flood hazard specialists throughout the world.
Position Overview
The Certification Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and oversight of the Association's Certified Floodplain Manager program. This full-time position involves making independent decisions regarding certification based on established policies and procedures. The role reports to the Certification, Training & Technology Director. This position requires limited travel, typically constituting about 5% of the time.
Primary Responsibilities :
Application Management : Manage the processing of CFM exam applications, including payment, ensuring a smooth start to the certification journey.
Program Oversight : Coordinate the renewal and decertification of CFMs to maintain program standards.
Data and Web Support : Maintain certification data and provide staff support for the Associations web page related to certification.
Board Support : Provide staff support and prepare administrative documents and reports for the Certification Board of Regents (CBOR).
Accreditation Audits : Audit Accredited State Certification Programs to ensure compliance with Association policies and bylaws.
Professional Development : Review and approve Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for CFMs.
Minimum Qualifications :
Associate or Bachelor degree in a floodplain management-related field.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the floodplain management industry.
Additional general office and computer experience is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data entry is required.
Must be a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) or obtain the credential within one year of employment.
Other position information : This is a full-time position, preferably located in the ASFPM office in Madison, Wisconsin. Travel obligations are limited, but typically constitute up to 5% of time. Salary
Starting annual salary range of $55,000 to $65,000, with the final offer depending on the individual's experience, skills, and qualifications.
