Responsibilities for Summer Camp Music Technology Instructor

• Have the potential to teach beginner - advanced levels of techniques for children ages 5-13 yrs
• Ability to coordinate efforts with a team of other staff members to create a Grand Finale Production
• Experience with television, stage plays, recording artists, film, or professional experience
• Experience with working with children (or willingness)
• Create lesson plans, routines, Original Songs, Original Productions utilizing the young talent within the afterschool program (framework is given)
• Assist with creative direction for Grand Finale Week Performances
• Ensure a group of assigned students is supervised and safe
• Utilize appropriate behavior management techniques
• Prepare and lead a variety of activities that are age-appropriate
• Model good behavior for students as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, and respectfulness
• Identify teachable moments and capitalize on them
• Supervise meal time activities
• Build and maintain a good working rapport with co-workers, students, and parents
• Work in a team environment, creating a safe and fun experience for children
• Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of students
• Facilitate and encourage participation in Music Technology and other afterschool program activities

Qualifications

• Must know music technology.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) REQUIRED
• 1 year of experience supervising and working with children, preferably as an afterschool instructor, camp counselor or teacher REQUIRED
• Certification in CPR and AED preferred
• First aid skills and training
• Ability to pass a background check REQUIRED to work with children
• General mobility including, but not limited, to walking, running, bending, kneeling, and standing REQUIRED for afterschool program activities
• Proven ability to maintain a safe environment for others in adherence with provided protocol and standards
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for large groups of children
• Ability to lift and / or move up to 20 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional experience in Education, Music, or related field (certified or non-certified)
• Demonstrated success in working with children in teaching or mentoring capacity
• Must know music technology.

Job Type : Part-time

Pay : $18 - $20 per hour
