SUMMARY
The Mechanical Quality Inspector II uses metrology equipment and GD&T knowledge to verify that parts meet drawings and specifications. Responsibilities also include writing nonconformance reports, process transactions in the ERP system, and continually improving the inspection process.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Open to constructive feedback from senior inspectors and leaders
Keeps work area organized and clean
Follows visual management rules
Completes paper inspection records, electronic records, and other relevant process steps
Expert understanding of relevant QMS documents
Able to read mechanical drawings to determine nominal dimensions and tolerances
Basic knowledge of GD & T drawing callouts (run-out, flatness, and true position)
Contributes improvement ideas and leads small improvement projects
Self-motivated and seeks out work to use time efficiently
Able to accurately use all Mechanical Inspector I equipment and the following inspection equipment : Micrometer (all types), optical comparator, and Mueller gage
Evaluate cosmetic flaws and accurately to determine conformance of parts
Can write nonconforming reports with minimal oversight
Troubleshoots some of the CMM outages that occur
Must be a team player as measured by his / her peers
Performs other related duties assigned
REQUIRED
HS Diploma or equivalent
Technical background or aptitude
3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
DESIRED
Associates or bachelor’s degree
Lean six sigma yellow belt
Can operate and troubleshoot two types of automated test equipment (Mitutoyo CMM, Zeiss CMM, or Amada Fabrivision)
Can do basic GDT measurements (run-out, flatness, and true position) utilizing mathematic calculation using a height gage or manual CMM
