What do you get to do in this position? To become part of Schneider Electric’s North American Legal team, providing meaningful support and expertise to the Associate General Counsel in areas of Labor and Employment law Roles & Responsibilities including but not limited to : Partnering with Associate General Counsel to act as internal subject matter expert on all applicable laws and regulations with respect to employment and labor issues arising under the laws of the United States and Canada Working directly with the Human Resources team in the US and Canada on all ranges of employee relations issues and associated legal risks Advising on workplace investigations and ethics inquiries in partnership with the Associate General Counsel and North American Compliance Officer Collaborating with the Associate General Counsel to advise on all aspects of employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding including offer letters, restrictive covenants, drug testing, performance management, and separations Responding to stakeholder inquiries on talent, recruiting, immigration, and performance management issues Advising on the organization’s diversity, equity & inclusion initiatives Advising on issues of joint employment, independent contractor laws and risk mitigation Conducting an annual review and update of all employment related workplace policies and procedures.
Ensuring compliance with wage and overtime standards across all states Partnering with Associate General Counsel and HR on labor negotiations with local and national union Managing external counsel strategy and spend as needed for litigation matters and charges Willingness and ability to take on stretch assignments as requested to expand skillset, including those involving employee benefits and commercial litigation Staying up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to activities within your scope of responsibility Delivering training programs and presentations to educate internal business clients about current legal requirements, and compliance Promoting awareness of legal risks, ethical practices and policies within the organization We know skills and competencies show up in many different ways and can be based on your life experience.
