MUST be able to lead contract negotiation for large and small contracts.
Confident in building and maintaining a competitive environment in a high-stakes engagement.
Able to manage critical stakeholder input, legal, risk, finance requirements, and communicate out to the various stakeholder groups the progress and challenges throughout the negotiation process.
Comfortable reading and recommending business unit level provisions in contracts to increase control and value for money.
Have they provided deal analysis as decision support to approvers?
BACKGROUND INFORMATION :
This will be in the Vendor Management Office working in IT SPACE
Responsible for sourcing, procurement and vendor management.
The business is starting to understand the need for contract management and Supply base managers-and the need to control competitive engagement and need for business units to stick to set of requirements and follow process.
HARD SKILLS :
This person needs to be comfortable in maintaining competitive environment on their own, without handholding with high stakes engagements. Poised. Who can run autonomously.
Negotiate contracts-know how to read contacts understands and articulate it. Know what provisions mean
Redline an agreement, to Increase control and productivity, penalties and etc. help business understand why these are critical and that they need to slow down until those provisions are set and good in contracts.
Need to have experience with contracts, specifically with IT, tech or software. Ideal-the person had software or IT services contacts. Doesn't have to be hardware or software. Software SAAS Agreements or Managed service Agreements or professional agreements for implementation
Comfortable with Excel, building set of requirements. Stakeholder interaction
Guiding conversation back to requirements (sometimes from scratch) that vendors will need to perform.
Running RFX (whatever size) to maintain competitive engagement so you have leverage and evaluate process. To Demonstrate to business "how you should spend your money"
Coaching them and educating them on what is necessary.
For contact negotiation be able to apply redlines. And say "here are provisions you want in here". Walk business unit though the provisions they should want.
Will speak with Business Unit and say, "here are things you need to consider on this Contract, that will make it in your favor, sample redlining and walk through. What to include. We are federated and business led contracts under mgmt.
They have to be able to Review contract and comfortable with a couple of contracts a day.
