JOB SUMMARY

The position is located in the heart of Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC). BUMC is consistently ranked as one of the best hospitals in the US by US News and World Report. It is a 1,000-bed Level 1 trauma facility offering advanced cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, transplant surgery (including bone marrow, kidney, liver, heart, lung, and more), and excellent medical subspecialty support. BUMC is affiliated with Texas A&M's School of Medicine, providing teaching opportunities. It is also home to the T. Boone Pickens Cancer Center, the #1 inpatient cancer center in North Texas.

The Physician HTPN examines and treats patients with a wide range of conditions, takes patient histories, requests diagnostic tests, makes diagnoses, prescribes treatments, administers vaccinations, performs follow-up examinations, and educates patients in disease prevention and health maintenance. The Physician HTPN will supervise the clinical activities of allied health professionals and advanced practice professionals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

• Examine, collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
• Order, perform, and interpret tests; analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose the patient's condition.
• Work as part of a clinical team of technicians, advanced practice professionals, and other physicians in decision-making around tests, diagnoses, and treatment options for patients with illnesses or diseases.
• Monitor patient conditions and progress; reevaluate treatments as necessary.
