American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Stepdown position in an acute care setting, requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and a PA or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a 28-bed intermediate care unit (IMCU) with Telemetry and Stepdown patientsProvides care for heavy cardiac patients, dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from ICUPatient ratios are typically 1 : 4-5, and 1 : 6 for MedSurg acuityUses EPIC and Cerner EMR systems; experience preferredRN must read and interpret cardiac strips; monitor tech available, but RNs are responsibleDrips managed include Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin (titration required); insulin is set-rate; no sedation dripsNon-invasive ventilation supported (BIPAP, CPAP, High Flow)Work schedule is three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7a-7pEvery other weekend required, including both Saturday and Sunday, with potential holiday coveragePossible floating to ICU as helping handsUnit has 2 nurse aides per day and mid-shift; no CNA coverage after 11pRNs will serve as the central monitor station for the hospitalA hospitalist is in-house 24 / 7, and intensivist is available in ICU with on-call coverage after hoursIV Team not available; ICU charge nurses or Director may assist with difficult IV startsPharmacy and Respiratory Therapy available 24 / 7Scrub color is navy blue, including jackets if wornOrientation includes two shifts with a preceptorCandidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for traveler status (no local travelers)Previous WVU employees must have a two-year break before returning as travelersHoliday coverage is required as part of staff rotation\n \n Requirements\n
