Job Summary
The Telecommunications Construction Field Supervisor (TCFS) is responsible for overseeing and managing all field operations for telecommunications construction projects. This includes ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The TCFS will lead and direct field crews, manage resources, and act as the primary on-site contact for clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Oversight :
Direct and supervise all aspects of telecommunications construction projects in the field.
Ensure adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions while utilizing digital reporting tools.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, project assigned contractor groups and other stakeholders.
Maintain detailed daily reports, logs, and project documentation while utilizing digital reporting tools.
Safety & Quality Assurance :
Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and procedures on all job sites.
Conduct regular safety inspections and toolbox talks.
Ensure all work complies with industry standards, local regulations, and company policies.
Perform quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications.
Team Leadership & Management :
Supervise, train, and mentor field crews and subcontractors.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback.
Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Manage labor resources efficiently to maximize productivity.
Resource & Equipment Management :
Oversee the allocation and utilization of crews, equipment, materials, and tools.
Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment.
Manage material inventories and order supplies as needed.
Client & Stakeholder Communication :
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, property owners, and other stakeholders.
Communicate project updates, challenges, and resolutions effectively.
Address and resolve any on-site issues or concerns in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of experience in telecommunications construction, with a focus on field supervision.
Proven experience with fiber optic installation, OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) construction-underground and aerial applications, conduit placement, and utility coordination.
Skills :
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
Ability to work independently and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in project management software.
Certifications : OSHA 30, First Aid / CPR certification preferred. Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
Other Requirements :
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to travel to various job sites in and around Place.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus.
