Overview

Manager, Technical Accounting - Insurance at Uber. You will lead an accounting team focused on insurance initiatives, manage monthly / quarterly closes, identify opportunities for a quicker close, oversee key accounting projects, and support external audits and financial reporting. Insurance is integral to Uber's business model; this role partners with Uber's insurance organization to drive accounting and finance alignment for innovative and complex insurance initiatives.

What you'll do

• Oversee and manage the monthly and quarterly (insurance) accounting close, collaborating with Uber's core accounting operations team and relevant third-party accounting teams.
• Review the work of other members of the Insurance accounting team.
• Proactively address and resolve operational accounting issues, including timely AP processing and correctly identifying GL account strings for all financial activities.
• Drive process and system improvements related to the insurance accounting close.
• Partner with insurance teams (insurance operations, actuarial, claims, stratfin) to implement accounting process changes.
• Prepare accounting memos related to insurance-specific programs with Uber's Technical Accounting team.
• Manage external audit work for Uber’s insurance accounts and activity, and Uber's stand-alone reinsurance captive's financial statements.

Salary and Benefits

For New York, NY-based roles : base salary range USD 149,000 – 166,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles : base salary range USD 149,000 – 166,000 per year. All US locations : eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program and may be offered an equity award and other compensation. Eligible for various benefits.
