Quality Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Quality Engineer 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading small projects and / or sub projects in analysis, development and improvement of quality systems.
Essential Functions
- Develops process FMEA, Control Plans, conduct capability assessment, and measurement systems analysis
- Analyzes and improves quality systems to enhance product and process quality and reduce cost
- Develops Inspection Reference Plans in support of RMI (as assigned)
- Conducts audits, documents audit findings and ensures closure of audit findings
- Analyzes failures and provides corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints
- Data collection, analysis, and dissemination including quality performance, cost and reliability / warranty calculations
- Collaborates and adds value in engineering design reviews
- Understands and implements lean tools and methods in performance of essential functions
- Estimates level of effort for a task
- Analyzes data to determine quality trends, finds technical root causes and implement corrective actions for given problems
- Designs custom tooling as needed for specific applications
- Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
- Serves as a mentor to less experienced quality engineers (Quality Engineer 1)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrated full use of industry standards and procedures
- Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in use of engineering tools
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Understanding of IATF 16949 / VDA / MLA, AS 9100, APQP / PPAP / MSA, Supplier / sub-supplier Quality, AIG Layered Audits and Customer Specific Requirements
- Previous work or internship experience in a quality engineering role
