Overview

We are seeking a full-time Quality Engineer 2 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading small projects and / or sub projects in analysis, development and improvement of quality systems.

Essential Functions

  • Develops process FMEA, Control Plans, conduct capability assessment, and measurement systems analysis
  • Analyzes and improves quality systems to enhance product and process quality and reduce cost
  • Develops Inspection Reference Plans in support of RMI (as assigned)
  • Conducts audits, documents audit findings and ensures closure of audit findings
  • Analyzes failures and provides corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints
  • Data collection, analysis, and dissemination including quality performance, cost and reliability / warranty calculations
  • Collaborates and adds value in engineering design reviews
  • Understands and implements lean tools and methods in performance of essential functions
  • Estimates level of effort for a task
  • Analyzes data to determine quality trends, finds technical root causes and implement corrective actions for given problems
  • Designs custom tooling as needed for specific applications
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Serves as a mentor to less experienced quality engineers (Quality Engineer 1)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated full use of industry standards and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge in use of engineering tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Understanding of IATF 16949 / VDA / MLA, AS 9100, APQP / PPAP / MSA, Supplier / sub-supplier Quality, AIG Layered Audits and Customer Specific Requirements
  • Previous work or internship experience in a quality engineering role
