Salary : $67,808 (License-eligible with ASW, IMF or Associate LPCC)

$80,000 (Licensed LCSW, MFT or LPCC)

Schedule : General operating hours are Monday - Friday : 11 a.m. 7 : 30 p.m. Scheduled hours may vary to meet the various needs of the program.

SBCS's Achievement Center, located in Downtown San Diego, is a safe and youth friendly day community center providing trauma informed, positive youth development services to youth (Ages 12 -18) currently on probation supervision or at-risk of entering the justice system (i.

e., who live in the community or are involved with the Child Welfare System). The Achievement Center allows youth and their families to receive treatment and services in the community, including case management, restorative practices, and evidence-based programming.

The goal is support youth in achieving their probation goals, avoid detention, and make positive choices.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Youth Prevention & Intervention (YPI) Clinician will be responsible for providing trauma-informed mental health services to YPI clients attending the Achievement Center, including youth who maybe be participating in other YPI programs (e.

g., CHOICE). In addition, this position will support the mental health needs of youth enrolled in Casa Nuestra, CAT, ATD, or Achievement Center as needed and feasible, pending caseload.

Under the supervision of the Program Director & Department Director, the YPI Clinician is responsible for crisis intervention, stabilization, and providing individual and group therapeutic services to youth and their families.

Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework The YPI Clinician is responsible for working with the team in developing team goals and objectives and in meeting those goals and objectives, including but not limited to :

DUTIES :

  • Provide mental health services and assessments for identified youth and develop treatment plans including goals and objectives, in collaboration with other YPI Case Managers.
  • Assessment and case planning on each participant enrolled in the Achievement Center program.
  • Provide quality trauma-informed counseling services to program clients that may include individual, family, and / or group services.
  • Ongoing support and supervision of youth participating in programs.
  • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings with other YPI team members.
  • Collect data, input case notes, and maintain case records and client files in the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database as required by SBCS and its funding sources.
  • Coordinate contacts with other public and private organizations and individuals, as necessary to effectively serve clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention to clients as needed.
  • Participation and assistance in implementing program components.
  • Attend all agency required meetings and trainings.
  • As other duties assigned.
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or related degree with current BBS registration as LCSW, MFT, ASW, Associate LPCC or IMF.
  • Experience in the areas of individual, group, and family counseling, outreach, community education and development, advocacy, and case management.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Adult role model with the ability to effectively set limits and function in crisis-oriented and high stress situations.
  • Flexibility to provide clinical support at client's homes, Achievement Center, or other locations accessible to clients.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care, cognitive based therapy, Positive Youth Development, and / or restorative practices is desired.
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to adequately observe participants' activities and enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.

Conditions of Employment

  • Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
  • Candidates / employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, (including THC and CBD), in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy and the federal Controlled Substances Act.
  • Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check.

Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy. (Approximately 30 40%)

Physical demands :

  • Mentally and emotionally : Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
  • Moves throughout the building.
  • Moves, raises, or lowers (includes upward pulling) an object or equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Transports an object, from 20 to 50 lbs. across the facility, for various needs.
  • Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.
  • Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)
  • Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Balancing : Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when ascending, descending, traversing.
  • Stooping : Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Handling : Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with objects or office machinery.
  • Communicating : Expressing or exchanging ideas. Communicating is important for those activities in which workers must impart information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, or quickly.
