About the Role :
The T&D Estimator I is an integral part of the electrical construction process and ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth. The T&D Estimator I is responsible for preparing cost estimates for various transmission, distribution and substation electrical construction projects.

Sturgeon Electric’s Transmission and Distribution (T&D) construction division provides a full range of capabilities related to transmission, distribution, substation, and clean energy construction.
Essential Functions
- Complete cost estimates for assigned projects, with definable work tasks for transmission, distribution and substation projects
- Develop complex estimates with minor errors / omissions
- Utilize previous work / bidding history to establish production assumptions
- Track and compare project histories to produce up to date man hours and cost
- Plan and execute work while meeting customer defined submission deadlines
- Schedule and attend field job walk with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements
- Attend on site pre-bid meetings and perform job site visits.
- Field job walks and pre-bid meeting may require travel / overnight stays
- Identify qualified suppliers / subcontractors
- Perform accurate material takeoffs to supply to vendor for pricing
- Solicit material vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals, including assembly and distribution of project documentation into RFQ / RFP packages
- Prepare commercial aspects of proposals, including work plans, clarifications / exceptions, etc.
- Compare various project documents for accuracy and consistency
- Perform operational contract redlines and coordinate with the legal department, and understand how contractual items affect the bid / work
- Prepare billing per customer requirements, and execute change orders
- Create / utilize a construction schedule
- Participate in job close-out meetings at the end of a project to close any loops in the estimating process
- Participate in estimate review process with internal and external stake holders
- Regular and predictable attendance

About You : Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of estimating experience in the electrical construction field or relevant construction experienceAbility to travel between 5-15% of the time based on business needsPreferred Education
High school diploma or GEDBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar field; relevant experience considered in lieu of degreeKnowledge / Skills / Abilities
Proficient in analyzing construction and electrical drawings to accurately formulate an estimateKnowledgeable of electrical materials and methods of installationProficient in Microsoft applicationsExcellent analytical and organizational skillsStrong communication skills, including verbal, and writtenAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities as necessaryAbility to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitudeAbility to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team playerAbility to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and othersSelf-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time while working independentlyWhat We Offer :

Eligibility : You will become initially eligible on the first day of the benefit month corresponding to the eligibility month in which you first accumulate at least 125 credited hours.

Salary $80,000- 100,000 / yearCommensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
