Director Of Merchandising - Commodities
The Director of Merchandising - Commodities is responsible for directing the efforts of commodities programs and replenishment within the merchandising department.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
- Directly supervises 24 merchandising employees.
- Oversees the day-to-day workflow of the department.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff within the department.
- Handles employee concerns, conflicts, discipline, and termination of employees as needed in accordance with company policy.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Oversees and gives direction and support to direct reports in inventory management and category management.Responsible for the success and profitability related to commodities categories or as directed by the Vice President of Merchandising.Responsible for new store sets with regard to the commodities areas.Responsible for budgeting for all commodities departments.Provides updates to the Vice President of Merchandising and other members of the McCoy's executive team.Oversees replenishment and category managers to aid in the decision-making process as it concerns distribution management.Oversees commodities managers and assists in the anticipation and identification of market changes.Acts interdependently with other department managers and regional managers to support and promote in-store and outside sales efforts.Reviews and directs all vendor negotiations and vendor relationships for all commodities departments.Oversees and directs all efforts of individuals assigned to planning and coordination of the annual vendor show.Must work interdependently with store personnel and corporate departments to resolve issues that concern the replenishment of materials.Must work interdependently within the merchandising department in making decisions regarding the discontinuation of products, promotion stock levels, and store performance of newly added products.Interacts frequently with store personnel, outside sales, and key customers to become familiar with customer's attitudes, preferences, and purchasing problems.Attends team meetings and company training sessions as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Skills / Abilities :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Must have a current driver's license and auto liability insurance.Occasional overnight travel is required.Education and Experience :
A bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or another industry-related field is required.Physical Requirements :
