We are seeking an Ocean Engineer for APL's Ocean Systems and Engineering Group to lead high-performing teams of engineers in technology evaluations, prototype development, and in the fielding of pioneering maritime systems. You'll join a hardworking team of engineers who are leading the way in development of ocean engineering systems with our fleet. In this position you will provide technical and project leadership through the full engineering lifecycle to include concept generation, requirements development, fabrication, and installation of next generation systems on US Navy platforms. You would also support development of Navy integrated logistics support products (e.g., technical manuals, training materials) to support the end use of deployed systems with the fleet.

As a Senior Ocean Engineer you will...

• Apply innovative thinking and detailed engineering to the development, integration, and evaluation of submarine payloads, autonomous vehicles, acoustic systems, communications systems, and autonomy for our fleet.
• Develop, implement, and test early prototype R&D maritime systems.
• Lead engineering evaluations to apply R&D technology to urgent or emerging problems.
• Lead white paper development, technology surveys, and drafting of technical findings and recommendations for our sponsors.
• Support sponsor engagement and concept development for new start efforts.

Hold an active Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain TS / SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education / training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and / or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. $102,500 Annually

Maximum Rate

$290,000 Annually
