Are you a compassionate leader with a heart for housing and behavioral health? Join Mental Health Kokua (MHK) as the Kauhale Manager at our Iwilei Center supportive housing community on Oahu. In this leadership role, you'll oversee daily operations, support staff, and ensure residents receive trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care in a safe and respectful environment.
This is a facility-based management position located in Honolulu, HI , ideal for those with experience in residential services, mental health care, or housing program leadership who want to make a lasting difference in the community.
Kauhale Manager Responsibilities :
- Program Oversight : Manage day-to-day Kauhale operations including intakes, occupancy, rent collection, and unit inspections to maintain 95% utilization.
- Resident Support : Monitor resident wellness, coordinate behavioral health services, and ensure timely follow-up on clinical needs.
- Staff Supervision : Lead and develop a team of Kauhale Specialists; provide oversight, scheduling, and support for high-quality service delivery.
- Facility & Safety Management : Maintain safety standards, oversee facility maintenance and vendor coordination, and respond to emergencies per protocol.
- Community & Care Coordination : Collaborate with internal staff and community partners, including case managers, HMIS / CES teams, and other providers, to promote housing stability.
Kauhale Manager Qualifications :
Preferred : Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, human services, or a related behavioral health fieldMinimum : High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience in housing or residential services2+ years of experience in behavioral health, supportive housing, or human services preferredPrior supervisory or team leadership experience highly desirableCurrent TB clearance, CPR, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)Must pass a criminal background check and drug screeningAble to lift up to 25 lbs and respond to facility-related needsBenefits of Joining MHK :
