Job descriptionYou are someone that takes a systematic and deliberate approach to managing your work and eliminating inefficiencies. You are an analytical and detail-oriented problem-solver. You enjoy getting better every day. Participate in all aspects of estimating including pre-construction activities and producing public or private bid estimates and pricing. Review project drawings, documents, and specifications to determine project scope, conditions, and production levels / rates. Attend pre-bid meetings and visit project locations as needed. Prepare quantity takeoffs and solicit all required vendors. Define anticipated project durations. Analyze geotechnical data and incorporate into estimate. Identify general conditions, labor, equipment, and material requirements and costs. Present estimate for final review with detailed project approach narrative. Value Engineering, where appropriate. Produce and manage an effective schedule of pre-construction milestones to allow for timely final bid review, proposal form completion and bid delivery. Analyze associated cost history and incorporate as needed. Work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, owners, or other employees regarding construction methods, productivity, job requirements, change orders, etc. Coordinate with administrative staff to prepare documentation and verify accuracy before send to appropriate parties. Train, lead, and mentor department junior staff, including Agtek operator. Updating software material, labor, equipment, and Worker's Comp rates in conjunction with other departments and / or vendors. Serve as an ambassador of the company and provide positive client relations to foster future business as well as maintain the company and industry image. Minimum 3 years of experience estimating civil construction projects, including site development, underground utilities (storm, water, sewer), and roadway construction Proven experience in public and private bid production with strong understanding of cost drivers and risk Advanced knowledge of civil construction principles, procedures, and means / methods Strong math skills, including proficiency in algebra and geometry for quantity calculations Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, Project, OneNote) Experience with estimating software such as HCSS, Bid2Win, BlueBeam, PlanSwift, Primavera P6, Procore Skilled in reading and analyzing civil designs, geotechnical data, and bid documents Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development Familiarity with Florida DOT or regional bidding practices (preferred) Ability to lead pre-bid efforts, attend site visits, and present estimates with confidence Our estimators are relentless and precise in their investigation and bidding process. They are responsible for identifying quality bidding opportunities (QBOs), as well as for the accuracy of their calculations and their "plan to win." They take extreme ownership of their critical role in the pre-construction and construction processes and solve problems as they arise. Our estimators operate with integrity in all of their business processes and do not take advantage of any external or internal customers. They do the right thing by our company, our team, the customer, and the community. They are respectful in their relations with customers and coworkers, they are trustworthy, they always do what they say, and they follow up when necessary. Our estimators share their vision and milestones for project success with the team and utilize the team's genius to solve problems and become an expert in areas where they may have less experience or knowledge. They practice servant leadership by being an available resource to other team members and offer their expertise in the aim of developing other team members. They are committed to continuous improvement, determined to create a formula for successful and profitable project execution, and they are determined to help the team deliver and WIN! You hate reading books and challenging yourself to improve personally and professionally. You don't value honest feedback aimed at improvement. You aren't determined to be an expert and share that expertise with other team members. You aren't going to take extreme ownership of assigned work and do everything within your power to win. $90,000 to $130,000 base salary, depending on qualifications and experience. Access to a Company Vehicle and Fuel Card as needed for business purposes Company Performance Incentive After meeting minimum performance standards AS A COMPANY, 30% of the company's profits are shared among the employees. Safety Bonus Every employee gets a safety bonus each month when the company goes without a recordable incident.
