What you'll do

Viasats Capacity System Engineering team is looking for a Senior Systems Design Engineer to help with the analysis, design, development and delivery of our commercial capacity and resource allocation programs and algorithms. This will include completing the delivery of currently scoped developments as well as future functionality and enhancements to the existing Viasat Platforms. This is a wide-ranging technical role that will require the successful candidate to play an analyst and integration role in activities including design, development, and system integration. The successful applicant must be self-motivated and be capable of completing complex tasks with minimum supervision and have the confidence and ability to promote improvements and introduce new technologies and ideas. This is a software and systems role

The day-to-day

• Participate in design, development, and delivery capacity and resource-allocation initiatives
• Develop new features within Viasats satellite resourses and capacity optimization tools
• Hands-on development of key technical components, frameworks, interfaces and services
• Participate and contribute to initial design and design reviews, including review of detailed functional specifications and requirements
• Create and maintain technical documentation to ensure efficient planning, execution, and handover
• Review existing software and algorithm designs to identify areas for improvement, added scalability, quality, performance, security maintainability and architectural integrity
• Work closely with other teams, to ensure proper detailed, documented handover to Operations and third parties

Salary range

$135,000.00 - $213,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $168,000.00- $252,000.00 / annually
