Responsibilities
The Equine Underwriter provides technical and authoritative support, as well as effective management, for all underwriting / administrative initiatives in the accomplishment of the corporation's financial, strategic and business plan objectives as respects to the Equine / Cattle Program.
Key functions include but are not limited to :
- Manage a book of equine and livestock mortality business
- Responsible for the growth of that book to meet the goals and objectives of the business unit
- Achieve terms, conditions and pricing that meet company profit objectives
- Achieve loss ratio and production goals and deliver exceptional services in a timely manner
- Collaborate with agents and brokers to foster productive and profitable relationships
- Participate in continuing education and training
Qualifications
- BA / BS degree in related field of study preferred
- 2-5 years of experience in equine and livestock underwriting
- Advanced knowledge of horses, including the various breeds and uses.
- Knowledge of common diseases and health issues with horses.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products
- In or open to relocation to Lexington, KY
