The City of Houston is seeking an experienced Librarian IV to serve as the Manager of the Houston History Research Center (HHRC). The HHRC preserves and makes accessible Houston and Houstonian history with a professional staff of archivists and librarians.
The responsibilities of the Librarian IV include managing day-to-day operations, supervising staff, maintaining statistics, and working closely with the community to improve operations and promote the local history collection.
Responsibilities :
- Manage day-to-day operations for the Houston History Research Center (HHRC) research room and archival collections.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor 8-12 staff members.
- Maintain and analyze statistics and manage private fund and grant budgets.
- Improve operations, workflows, and policies and procedures to ensure that operations match community needs.
- Lead library programming and outreach efforts to promote the local history collection.
- Give presentations and reports to stakeholders and represent the library at community events and archival conferences.
Requirements :
Master of Library Science degree from a school accredited by the American Library Association.Four (4) years of experience as a librarian, including at least one year of management experience.Preferences :
