This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) - Uranium Enrichment in the United States .
This executive role offers a rare opportunity to lead the technical vision and innovation for a cutting-edge uranium enrichment initiative. The CTO will oversee research, development, and commercialization efforts, directing multi-disciplinary teams in nuclear engineering, chemical processing, data science, and secure systems. You will manage complex multi-agency programs, guide technology strategy, and ensure alignment with national priorities in energy and security. The role requires strategic leadership in both classified and commercial environments, with a focus on advancing nuclear fuel cycle science and emerging technologies. The CTO will serve as a technical thought leader, driving innovation, mentoring top talent, and representing the organization with senior government stakeholders. This is an on-site leadership role based in Oak Ridge, TN.
Accountabilities
- Define and execute the technical strategy for uranium enrichment and secure nuclear technology development.
- Serve as Principal Investigator for major R&D programs, including enrichment modeling, simulation infrastructure, and classified projects.
- Integrate efforts across disciplines such as chemical engineering, nuclear process modeling, materials characterization, and secure computing to address mission-critical challenges.
- Oversee a multi-million-dollar R&D portfolio, ensuring project execution aligns with strategic goals.
- Lead collaborations with commercial nuclear entities, national laboratories, and federal agencies (DOE, NNSA, DOD, and intelligence community).
- Drive team growth, workforce development, and retention of technical talent across mission areas.
- Guide technology readiness and commercialization pathways for lab-scale innovations, including uranium enrichment and analytical sensing systems.
- Regularly brief corporate executives and sponsors on technical performance, vision, and strategic roadmaps.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or closely related discipline.15+ years of progressive technical leadership experience in nuclear technologies, including national labs or defense contractors.Proven track record managing large-scale multi-agency programs with budgets exceeding $200M.Experience in classified and unclassified environments with secure facility oversight.U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q or TS / SCI security clearance.Demonstrated expertise in directing multidisciplinary teams, technology commercialization, and briefing senior government stakeholders.Record of peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, with strong communication and leadership skills.Preferred :
Experience in commercial uranium enrichment technology development and NRC licensing.Background managing programs supporting DOE-SC, DOE-NNSA, or DTRA.Familiarity with technology transition, secure computing infrastructure, and nuclear technology commercialization.Professional Engineering license (Tennessee), active or inactive.Benefits
