Job Summary :
The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and performs related clerical and communication duties to facilitate efficient department services. Responsibilities include assisting patients with daily living activities, collecting specimens, recording vital signs, and communicating patient status to licensed professionals. The role also involves performing designated patient care procedures, maintaining equipment, and assisting with patient registration activities.

Responsibilities :
- Assist patients with routine activities of daily living, including range of motion, ambulation, positioning, skin care, feeding, and hygiene.
- Collect urine, stool, and sputum specimens and process as needed.
- Obtain and record patient health data, weights, vital signs, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, and I&O.
- Communicate patient status and report changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Perform incentive spirometry and transport patients.
- Prepare rooms, provide post-mortem care, and assist with admissions and discharges.
- Assist nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Perform oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Perform blood sugar finger sticks.
- Remove IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Perform EKGs.
- Answer unit phones and direct calls.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems and document patient care.
- Coordinate equipment / supply needs and report malfunctions.
- Perform patient registration activities.
