Accountant

About the Role

Asphalt Surfacing Company is on the hunt for an Accountant to join its team! This position plays a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations and keeping the office running smoothly, from payroll and job cost tracking to vendor management and project support. The ideal candidate enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and will support the finance and project management teams to help ensure projects stay on track and finances stay accurate.

What You'll Do

Accounting & Payroll

• Prepare and process weekly payroll and quarterly reporting for approximately 45 employees.
• Set up new jobs and upload estimates into the accounting system.
• Track and record equipment and fuel costs by job.
• Prepare, verify, and process vendor invoices for approval and payment.
• Manage weekly check runs and reconcile monthly credit card statements.
• Process subcontractor agreements and verify compliance with insurance, lien waivers, and tax certificates.
• Handle accounts receivable, billing, deposits, and collection calls as needed.
• Reconcile vendor, subcontractor, and intercompany accounts regularly.
• Prepare journal entries and general ledger adjustments.
