The Global Payroll Product Specialist is an early-career member of the Native Engine Build team, responsible for configuring solutions, executing tests, and supporting the successful launch of payroll products in new countries. This role requires both technical and domain knowledge to ensure payroll products meet legislative requirements and are implemented accurately and on time.

Working under the guidance of Solution Designers, Product Architects, and Senior team members, the Global Payroll Product Specialist ensures that configurations are aligned to specifications, validated against agreed acceptance criteria, and compliant with local tax and labour legislation.

This role is designed for individuals with payroll configuration, systems testing, or functional analysis experience who are developing their expertise in global product implementation.

Responsibilities

Configuration & Implementation

Review and interpret advisory packs to ensure comprehensive understanding of country-specific payroll and legislative requirements.

Lead and support discussions with compliance and local experts to clarify legislative and functional needs.

Configure payroll system solutions, including back-end configuration and programming language calculations for pay elements, statutory rates, codes, and country-specific fields.

Create specifications and development tickets for payroll calculations and features.

Document configuration for knowledge-sharing, audit purposes, and training materials.

Testing & Validation

Execute functional and regression tests using predefined test books and acceptance criteria.

Partner with Business Analysts and QA to validate that builds meet legislative and compliance standards.

Log and document test results, escalating defects or compliance gaps to Solution Designers or Developers.

Support UAT activities and resolve defects during the testing cycle.

Collaboration & Delivery

Work closely with Solution Designers, Product Architects, Business Analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver scoped requirements.

Oversee task delivery, proactively addressing delays to ensure timely project completion.

Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives) and support the team in meeting delivery commitments.

Lead post-deployment reviews to ensure smooth handover to stakeholders.

Learning & Development

Build expertise in global payroll, HR, and financial systems.

Develop deep knowledge of payroll configuration tools, frameworks, and compliance requirements.

Actively seek mentorship and feedback to grow into more advanced solutioning roles.

Experience & Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll configuration, including back-end configuration and payroll calculation programming.

Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, HR / Payroll, or equivalent practical experience.

Strong understanding of payroll elements, codes, formulas, statutory rates, and country-specific requirements.

Experience analysing advisory information and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Excel (intermediate level, including lookups and formulas).

Experience with report writing tools (preferred).

Basic understanding of Agile / Scrum methodologies and team collaboration practices.
