Career Team is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support our Finance, Compliance, and Operations functions for workforce development programs in North Central Texas Service Area. This role will assist with a wide range of accounting and administrative responsibilities, including expense tracking, invoice processing, reconciliations, and financial reporting. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate financial documentation, compliance with organizational and funder guidelines, and timely support for program operations. This position reports directly to the Project Accountant and will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy and accountability in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Your Impact on Career Team's Success :
- Support the Finance Department with day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate entry of financial data and timely processing of transactions
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice review, vendor communication, and payment processing
- Prepare and maintain expense reports, purchase orders, and supporting documentation in compliance with funding guidelines
- Reconcile accounts and ensure proper documentation for audits and internal reviews
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting by gathering and organizing relevant data
- Maintain digital and physical financial records, ensuring confidentiality and proper filing protocols
- Coordinate with program teams to track participant-related expenses such as support services, training payments, and other program-related disbursements
- Help monitor budget usage and alert leadership to variances or potential compliance concerns
- Ensure financial procedures align with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Career TEAM's internal controls
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for funder reporting and external audits
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other agency-wide events as required
- Approach each day and task with a "ZAG" mindset
- Other duties and special projects as needed
The Ideal Qualifications for this Position Include :
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance support roleKnowledge of basic accounting principles and financial systemsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or comparable systems)High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skills and professional demeanorAbility to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in financial recordkeepingA Valid Driver's LicenseAdditional Skills / Knowledge Career Team Would Love for This Role :
