Job description

About myPlace Health

myPlace Health was founded in 2021 by mission-aligned healthcare leaders and organizations that are committed to drastically improving health outcomes, quality and experience for vulnerable older adults and frail seniors. We specialize in providing value-based, comprehensive care and coverage for older adults with significant needs so they can thrive in the homes they love and in the communities they cherish.

Our mission is simple : to enable older adults to live the independent lives they deserve. We pursue this mission through our myPlace PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) model, which provides seamless primary care, integrated health plan coverage, personalized social engagement, and customized services delivered in the participant’s preferred place.

myPlace Health is building a mission-driven team that shares our passion for redefining the way older adults experience care as they “age in place” in the community. This is a unique opportunity to take on one of our country’s most challenging healthcare problems and join a fast-growing, dynamic team as we prepare to scale our mission to serve more markets.

About This Role

At myPlace, we believe that nourishing meals and compassionate service are essential parts of caring for our participants. As the Food Services Supervisor, you’ll lead and support our food services team to ensure safe, nutritious, and culturally sensitive meals are prepared and served daily to older adults enrolled in our PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program.

This isn’t just about following recipes — it’s about creating an environment where every meal supports health, dignity, and comfort. You’ll work in a setting that feels more like home than a facility, surrounded by a team that shares your passion for service and your respect for the people we care for.

If you have a love for food, a gift for leadership, and a heart for making a difference, this is the role where all three come together.

What Does Success Look Like As Our Food Services Supervisor?

  • Lead by example – Roll up your sleeves as a working supervisor, joining your team in the kitchen for food preparation, service, and cleanup—because leadership tastes best when it’s served alongside teamwork.
  • Inspire your crew – Guide and motivate a talented team of dietary aides and utility staff, coordinating schedules, delegating tasks, and keeping operations running smoothly.
  • Grow your team’s potential – Partner with our Center Manager to provide feedback, coaching, and encouragement, creating a positive and respectful environment for everyone.
  • Keep it safe – Ensure our kitchen follows all local, state, and federal food safety guidelines—because great meals start with safe kitchens.
  • Make mealtime special – Bring joy to the table by ensuring meals are nutritious and tailored to each participant’s therapeutic, cultural, and religious preferences.
  • Collaborate for care – Work hand in hand with our Registered Dietitians and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to meet special dietary needs.
  • Serve with style – Oversee perfect portioning, beautiful plating, and timely delivery—because presentation matters.
  • Pack care to go – Prepare and complete “To Go” kitchen requests, from snacks to frozen meals, so participants have care that travels with them.
  • Protect quality every day – Monitor food storage, temperatures, logs, cleanliness, and equipment functionality.
  • Stay proactive – Conduct regular audits and safety checks, fixing any hiccups right away.
  • Run the pantry like a pro – Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, and storing supplies while reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
  • Work as one team – Collaborate with leadership and IDT members for daily operations, special events, and emergency meal planning.
  • Be the voice that listens – Connect with participants and caregivers, hearing their feedback and making sure everyone feels cared for.
  • Jump in when needed – Step up wherever necessary to keep the our center beating strong.

What Does An Ideal Supervisor Look LIke

  • Bring your education – High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Lead with experience – 3+ years in food service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role (healthcare or long-term care preferred).
  • Show your credentials – Valid Food Safety Manager Certification (e.g., ServSafe).
  • Know your nutrition – Knowledge of therapeutic diets, food allergies, and cultural food practices.
  • Follow with precision – Ability to read and follow recipes and meal plans from a Registered Dietitian.
  • Stay organized and clear – Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Love who you serve – A true passion for working with older adults.
  • Bring relevant know-how – Experience in a PACE, long-term care, or healthcare setting (a big plus!).
  • Speak their language – Bilingual skills in Spanish, Tagalog, or other relevant languages welcomed.
  • Be ready for anything – CPR / First Aid certification.
  • The Physical Side of The Role

  • Stay on your feet – Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) while performing kitchen and supervisory duties.
  • Move with flexibility – Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting while preparing and serving food.
  • Handle the heavy lifting – Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds (e.g., boxes of supplies, food trays, equipment).
  • Work with precision – Manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination to operate kitchen tools, appliances, and equipment safely.
  • Adapt to temperature changes – Ability to work in warm and cold environments (e.g., kitchen, walk-in refrigerator / freezer).
  • Be comfortable in the kitchen environment – Tolerance for exposure to common kitchen elements such as heat, steam, and food odors.
  • Hear and respond quickly – Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions and kitchen alarms in a noisy environment.
  • Keep a sharp eye – Visual acuity to inspect food presentation, read recipes, and verify safety labels.
  • Maintain your stamina – Endurance to perform repetitive motions such as chopping, stirring, plating, and cleaning throughout the shift.
  • Suit up for safety – Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, aprons, and non-slip footwear.
  • The Fine Print

  • Your schedule – Monday through Friday, giving you evenings and weekends to recharge.
  • Your home base – Our center is located in Greater Los Angeles, serving our vibrant community. This position will support our South Los Angeles site as needed.
