Job Summary

The Host/Hostess role at Mayahuel is pivotal in ensuring each guest receives a warm welcome and exceptional service throughout their visit. Responsibilities include opening door for guests as they arrive, greeting guests, confirming reservations, providing accurate wait times, and escorting customers to the dining and bar areas. This position requires strong organizational and people skills to ensure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive until their departure. This position is vital for ensuring that every guest receives a thoughtfully prepared giveaway as they leave the restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Handle cash transactions, confirming prices.
• Assist customers with their ticket and gift card purchases.
• Take reservations, greet and seat guests, direct guests to the table, and thank guests as they depart.
• Answer phones throughout the shift and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
• Greet and seat guests while maintaining a balanced rotation among servers.
• Communicate clearly and promptly, both face-to-face and over the phone.
• Accommodate all guest requests with enthusiasm and hospitality.
• Monitor dining area capacity and manage waiting times as necessary.
• Perform additional opening and closing duties such as cleaning, stocking, and setting up the host stand for the next shift.
• Proactively engage with guests to ensure their needs are met and exceeded, including performing online research to personalize guest interactions and enhance their experience.
• Utilize social media skills to gather insights on guests, ensuring a tailored and memorable service.

Qualifications

• Previous hosting experience in a restaurant setting preferred.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in fine dining hospitality and/or casual dining.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
• Must stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs., and manage physical activities like bending and climbing.
• Focused on customer service and solutions.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts based on restaurant needs.
• Food handler's card may be required as per local and state regulations.
• Spanish/English speaking recommended.
