Job description

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $156,000 - $234,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric also offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees, inclusive of medical (with member reward points), dental, vision, and basic life insurance, Benefit Bucks (credits to apply towards your benefits) flexible work arrangements, paid family leaves, 401(k) + match, well-being and recognition (including service anniversary) programs, 12 holidays per year, 15 days of paid time off per year (pro-rated in the first year of employment based on start date), opportunity to purchase company stock (eligibility depends on start date), and military leave benefits.

What will you do?

The Business Development Leader - Brownfield Modernizations is responsible for driving growth by replacing competitor automation systems (DCS, SIS, PLC, Drives) with Schneider Electric solutions in existing industrial facilities. This role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and closing modernization opportunities, leveraging deep knowledge of both competitor and Schneider Electric offerings. The Leader will also support the generation of incremental process automation business in grassroots Energies and Chemicals segments, prospecting for new end users and sites, and leading teams to qualify, bid, and win new automation business.

Market Development & Opportunity Identification

  • Identify and target brownfield modernization opportunities in key industries (e.g., power generation, oil & gas, chemicals, manufacturing).
  • Develop demand and need for process automation portfolio within new and existing customers and markets aligned to strategic objectives and goals.
  • Build and nurture relationships with decision-makers at existing facilities operating competitor systems (Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens, Rockwell).
  • Prospect for new end users and new sites with existing customers.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to displace competitor automation platforms.

Solution Positioning & Sales Execution

  • Articulate the value proposition of Schneider Electric's automation portfolio (Foxboro DCS, Triconex SIS, Modicon PLC, Altivar Drives, EcoStruxure Automation Expert, AVEVA and Software Services) for modernization projects.
  • Lead customer engagements, presentations, and workshops to demonstrate technical and business benefits.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to scope solutions, develop proposals, and support bid processes.
  • Lead the sales and business development efforts related to key targeted project pursuits.
  • Competitive Intelligence & Strategy

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor products, installed base, and market strategies.
  • Provide feedback to product management and marketing on competitive trends and customer needs.
  • Work closely with strategy and product management teams to provide voice of market and customers, trends, and development on competitive dynamics.
  • Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and service teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Mentor and support regional sales teams in developing modernization strategies.
  • Interface with regional sales and business leads to implement and develop account-specific strategies.
  • Engage with EPC or end-user leaders and executives to develop relationships, understand their business, and formulate business solutions to create value.
  • Reporting & Performance Management

  • Track pipeline, forecast sales, and report on key metrics to management.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and long-term relationship development.
  • Support development of the business case for strategic initiatives and drive implementation of selected strategies.
  • What skills and capabilities will make you successful?

  • Must be sufficiently mobile and flexible; ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Exposure to Strategy & Business Development in the North American market space.
  • Ability to convert strategies into implemented business solutions driving sales and revenue.
  • Ability to develop sustainable opportunity pipeline based on business plans.
  • Experience leading brownfield modernization projects.
  • Schneider Electric certifications or training in Foxboro, Triconex, Modicon, or Altivar.
  • Knowledge of key verticals (power generation, oil & gas, chemicals, manufacturing).
  • Experience in owner / operator environment in process automation, process engineering, operations, and maintenance capacity.

    What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 7+ years in industrial automation, business development, or technical sales.
  • 5+ years' experience in engineering, project management, or operations within the Energies & Chemicals segments.
  • Direct experience with competitor automation systems (Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, ABB, Siemens, Rockwell).
  • Familiarity with Schneider Electric's automation solutions (Foxboro, Triconex, Modicon, Altivar).
