We are seeking a Construction Manager, Fiber Splicing to join our team in our San Antonio, TX . In this role you will lead and manage all aspects of utility construction for various types of telecom projects overseeing site planning, scheduling, budgeting and resource allocation.

The Role
Lead and manage all aspects of fiber splicing and testing for various types of telecom projectsOversee site planning, scheduling, budgeting and resource allocationResponsible for administration, training, and development of all field personnel, including hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and performance improvementRepresent a clear understanding of fiber design, splicing matrix sheets and documentation requirements and communicate that understanding effectively dailyManage contract resources as necessary to supplement project needsManage and coordinate outside plant (OSP) construction / fiber splicing using both in-house and contract resources to accomplish assigned projectsCoordinate field survey of existing or proposed outside plant installations including aerial and underground network facilities and associated infrastructureLead and model effective troubleshooting systems as necessary in the restoration of plant issuesResponsible for meeting QC standards as well as budgetary requirementsEnsure system compliance to NCTA, FCC regulations and IQ Fiber’s minimum operating specificationsManage relationships with external contractors, vendors and suppliers, ensure alignment with project requirements and company standardsPrepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, construction drawings, fiber as-builts, fiber workbooks, test docs, and change ordersCommunicate effectively with project stakeholders, provide regular updates on project status, milestones and budgetary considerationsServe as on-call management and respond to end-to-end OSP needs in the event of a service impairment or outageWork a flexible schedule with varied hours; some evenings and weekends as neededOther duties as assignedRequirements :
5+ years of experience in a fiber telecommunications construction environmentAdvanced knowledge in underground and aerial telecom construction techniquesStrong organizational and project management skillsProficient knowledge of optical networksProficient with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel, Word and OutlookAbility to work outside of business hours as needed; overtime, holidays, evenings, weekends, emergency schedules for natural disasters and network outages etc., in all seasonsAbility to handle unexcepted emergencies, having company communication equipment availableStrong ability to complete tasks with small components, identify colors, strong depth perception with good hand-eye coordinationAbility to use and understanding splicing technology such as OTDRs, VFL, OLTS and Fusion SpliceAbility to complete work indoors, outdoors, in tight spaces and elevated by bending, reaching, twisting, climbing, sitting, and working while standing up to 70% of the time as neededAbility to safely work and navigate various terrains and job sitesEmbrace the challenge of coaching and mentoring your teamExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsProfessional demeanorMust provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves drivingWill need to pass a DOT physical and / or already possess a Federal Medical (FedMed) cardPassing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)The compensation and benefits information is accurate as of the date of this posting.
