The Community Outreach & Education Specialist (COES) will be working with stakeholders, community-based organizations, faith-based groups, school personnel, healthcare professionals, and service providers, as well as employers and potential sponsors.

They will be an integral part of a statewide team. They will be responsible for community outreach and awareness activities, in-person and virtual trainings, as well as recruitment of volunteers, potential community partners, and donors.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities :

• Conduct presentations and training on seizure first aid and epilepsy awareness through community outreach events, at schools, doctor offices, and professional conferences.
• Input data entry into the database.
• Assist with coordination of agency and department activities.
• Keep supervisor apprised of incoming requests or issues.
• Assist in volunteer management activities and schedules.
• Participate in all organizational development activities.
• Consistently treat colleagues and customers / donors / board members with dignity and respect; reflect professionalism and cooperative spirit.
• Organize tasks efficiently, maintain focus and stay productive.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Epilepsy Alliance Florida services.
• Abide by all EAFLA and state policies, procedures, and mandates.
• Must be willing to travel, have a valid driver’s license, and insured vehicle.
• Must be able to carry 25 pounds.
• Positively represent the agency.
• Responsible for completing all other tasks related to this position as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications :

• Associate Degree
• Experience in community education, health education, public speaking, and / or advocacy is a plus.
• Reliable transportation
• Must be able to work independently and be available for some nights and weekends.

Salary Range : $17.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on experience.
