Job descriptionMarch 30, 2026 April 6, 2026 May 4, 2026 May 11, 2026 June 22, 2026 June 29, 2026 Orientation : One full day (7 : 30 a.m. 5 : 00 p.m.), preferably the Friday before the first start date or within two weeks prior Patient Demographics : Adults and Geriatrics Patient Volume / Census : Typical inpatient gastroenterology caseload (TBD) Admissions : Yes, inpatient consults and procedures Rounding : Included Phone Consults : Yes Case Mix : Comprehensive GI conditions including esophageal, gastric, intestinal, hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary diseases No. of Beds in Department : Part of 220+ bed hospital Trauma Level : Level III EMR System : Epic Office Equipment Available : Endoscopy and colonoscopy suite equipment Specialty Backup Available : Full anesthesia, surgical, and hospitalist support (inpatient anesthesia based on availability) Support Staff Available : Nursing, anesthesia, and ancillary procedural support Reason for Coverage : Staff leaving Time to Credential : days Hospital Privileges Required : Yes Temporary Privileges Available : No Credentialing Timeline : days Rate : Competitive hourly locum rate (TBD) Orientation : Paid orientation day if performed on-site Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance : Covered Upper GI Endoscopy (Mandatory) Lower GI Endoscopy (Mandatory) Sigmoidoscopy (Mandatory) Colonoscopy (Mandatory) Esophageal Dilatation (Mandatory) Esophageal Manometry (Mandatory) Biopsy during Endoscopy / Colonoscopy (Mandatory) ERCP : Not applicable EUS : Not applicable Licenses : Active Indiana state license or valid IMLC Board : Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (certification within 5 years of residency) DEA : Active DEA certification required Certifications : ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA) Experience : Minimum 2 years of gastroenterology practice Vaccinations : Flu and COVID required (medical or religious exemptions accepted) Other Qualifications : Provider must complete order entry and timesheet documentation within the Vemsta platform Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultative and procedural services Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy Manage acute and chronic GI conditions including GI bleeds, liver disease, and pancreatitis Collaborate with anesthesia and surgical teams for coordinated care Attend mandatory on-site orientation prior to first assignment week Complete electronic documentation and order entry within Epic EMR and Vemsta platforms Reid Health is a nonprofit, accredited 220+ bed regional hospital located in Richmond, Indiana, serving over 280,000 residents across East-Central Indiana and West-Central Ohio.
