Role Overview : We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Engineering to lead our data engineering team in Tampa, Florida.

As the Director of Data Engineering, you will play a critical role in driving the development and execution of our data engineering strategy, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our data infrastructure.

Financial data modelling, market data integration, reg, governance and performance attribution are experience is essential.

You will be responsible for leading a team of data engineers, overseeing recruitment efforts, defining data architecture, managing integrations, implementing governance and security measures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide leadership and direction to the data engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
• Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and development of top talent within the data engineering team.
• Define and implement data architecture standards, best practices, and guidelines to support business objectives and scalability.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouses to ensure efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Manage the integration of disparate data sources, systems, and platforms to enable seamless data flow and interoperability.
• Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Implement robust security measures and protocols to protect sensitive data assets and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization, including data scientists, analysts, business leaders, and IT teams, to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business needs.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in data engineering, continuously evaluating and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Skills and Qualifications :

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Deep Understanding of Financial Data Systems : Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and managing data systems specific to investment management, including portfolio management systems, market data feeds, and risk management platforms.
• Proven experience (8+ years) in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor team members.
• Demonstrated experience in recruiting, hiring, and developing high-performing data engineering teams.
• Deep understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling techniques, and database design concepts.
• Proficiency in designing and building scalable data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehouses using modern technologies and tools (e.

g., Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake).

• Experience in managing data integration projects and implementing enterprise-level integration solutions (e.g., APIs, messaging queues, batch processing).
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory compliance requirements in the financial services industry.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, data encryption techniques, and access control mechanisms to ensure data security.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on delivering results.
