Overview
Lead Instructor I Fall role at Chess Wizards, Inc – responsible for delivering engaging chess instruction to students and supporting training, development, and coaching of other instructors. This position serves as a stepping stone toward future management opportunities and aligns instructor performance with customer expectations.
Area
Location : Chicago, IL 60620. Relocation assistance is not provided. Candidates must reside in the area or relocate at their own expense.
Lead Instructor Essentials
- A Lead Instructor must be able to reach most or all classes in the metropolitan area; reliable transportation is essential.
- Conduct interactive, friendly, and engaging classes with 10-15 kids.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor.
- Lead Instructors set the example for Kids, Parents, School Administration, and Fellow Colleagues in alignment with the Chess Wizards Mission Statement.
- Available during after-school hours at least 4 days per week; preference for 5 days a week during peak program weeks (fall, winter, spring semesters). Most classes begin after school dismissal (typically between 2 : 00 pm and 4 : 00 pm). Standard program time is one hour. Lead Teachers are paid per class with an average 1.5-2 hours total time commitment (including setup and dismissal). Longer class times pay accordingly.
- Lead Instructors are our first scheduling choice for day camp opportunities during winter, spring, and summer breaks.
- Assist Area Manager with coaching visits, customer conversations, and quality control.
- Assist with the training, coaching, and performance evaluation of instructors.
- Help troubleshoot and resolve program challenges.
- Complete class evaluation reports and discuss them with the supervisor.
- Communicate daily with supervisor during programming season.
- Interact with school administration and parents during site visits; gather feedback and assist with customer service and marketing efforts.
- Maintain professional communication best practices.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive Pay : $65 - $85 per hour for a 1.5-hour session.Travel Compensation provided for trips over 15 miles (30 miles roundtrip) from home or work location.Requirements & Qualifications
