About The Role
Want to make a difference in children's lives and in the community? Become a Therapeutic Mentor with Arbour Counseling Services! Our team of Therapeutic Mentors help youth under the age of 21 with mental health or behavioral challenges to develop specific independent life skills as a part of a clinical treatment team.
Our Therapeutic Mentors offer structured, one-on-one, strength-based support, modeling and training in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and relating appropriately to other youth or adults, all while doing fun activities in the community! Services can take place in parks, basketball courts, libraries, animal shelters, museums, malls and any other place / activity that may peak the youth's interest.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to expand their knowledge and / or pursue higher education in the field of mental health and social work. Be a part of an experienced, energetic and supportive team. Schedule is flexible depending on your availability and that of the client / family.

Meeting individually with youth in the community for Skill BuildingCoordinate with youth's therapist and guardian to assist in achieving treatment goalsAssist youth in building various coping, life, social, behavior and emotion management skillsImplement therapeutic interventions, from therapist treatment plan to address youth's mental health, behavioral and emotional needs by education and practice in emotional needs by education and practice in emotional identification and management and skills coachingCoordinate care with collateral contactsProvide telephone coaching and support with youth as neededComplete documentation of all meetings and collateral contactsAttend weekly staff / department meeting and supervisionQualifications
Bachelor's degree required in Psychology, Human Services, or a related fieldAt least one year working with children, youth and / or adolescentsA valid Massachusetts driver's licenseDaily access to a working, registered and insured vehicleExcellent in both written and verbal communicationsAbility to independently plan and organize one's own schedule and client servicesKnowledge of Microsoft computer systemsStrong time management skills and organization skillsBilingual applicants encouragedCandidates must possess appropriate citizenship work documentationCandidates must pass a CORI and drug test, as well as other pre-employment documentationEEO Statement
