About This Role:
The Agronomy Department at Kansas State University is looking for an Extension Associate to lead the development, manage, and facilitate extension educational programs in agronomy. The successful candidate will work closely with Extension Specialists, and in collaboration with Agents, industry partners, farmers, and other stakeholders to coordinate and amplify the impact of extension educational programs. Other responsibilities include supporting extension specialists in creating educational materials and resources, and promoting extension events, workshops, and field days to reach a broader audience. Find and refine topics for eUpdate articles, X (Twitter), Facebook, and other social media posts, fact sheets, and other Extension products and pursue opportunities for supplemental funding to support programs. Coordinate, plan, and lead the organization of traditional extension programs such as winter meetings, crop schools, and summer diagnostic schools with a primary focus on program development, identifying relevant topics and presenters, including CEU credits for certified crop advisor and commercial pesticide applicator programs.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Agriculture, Communication, Social Sciences, or related field.
- M.S. degree in Agriculture, Communication, or Social Sciences.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with diverse public.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Experience in developing and supporting the delivery of Extension programs.
- Experience with or interest in agricultural production, agricultural education, and/or Extension.
- Ability to assess problems and develop creative solutions.
- Experience with planning and organizing extension programming, familiarity with grant-writing and reporting.
