Level II NICU Nurse, RN.
This is a 13-week assignment. 12-hour shifts (7 pm to 7 am), rotating weekends with possible floating.
These units are for advanced neonatal care, and they are for babies who need help with their breathing and feeding or need medication.
Small healthcare clinics usually have this type of NICU, where they can also be called special care nurseries.
Performing patient assessments, including lung and bowel function, vital signs, muscle tone, limb function, energy levels and behavior
Administering medication or therapies as prescribed by the NICU physicians.
Creating patient care plans with other healthcare professionals on the NICU team
Following nutritional plans for patient feeding including weighing diapers and establishing growth rate
Monitoring the patients and reporting any changes in their condition or vital signs
Cleaning and maintaining ECMO equipment.
Giving blood transfusions and using transfusion equipment
Assisting during difficult childbirths where the infant will require immediate support.
Logging all patient records in a paper or electronic note capture system.
Educating and counseling the parents about the care their baby needs and what they can expect in their development, growth, and recovery.
Using medical equipment and instruments
Ordering departmental medical supplies and equipment
Qualifications
- 1yr acute care hospital experience in a level IIII NICU.
- Experiencing working with Maternal / Child service line
- Required certifications; AHA BLS, current AAP / AHA NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate.
- Current MBI or CPI
- Current LA City Fire and Life Safety card
