Where we are located : This position could be based in either our facility in Hopkinsville, KY, or in Shelbyville, IN. Hopkinsville is a great location for commuters and residents of the Nashville, TN and Clarksville, TN areas. Shelbyville is a great location for commuters and residents of the Indianapolis area. Within a 30-45-minute commute of both locations are opportunities to live in the heart of a vibrant city or live in a suburb with all the amenities. We also have a manufacturing facility located in Monterrey, Mexico. Our Corporate Headquarters reside in Adrian, Michigan.
What the position entails : The Sr. Quality Engineer is a Corporate Quality resource to assist all Brazeway manufacturing plants with application of quality tools and disciplines in response to customer quality concerns and internal quality improvements. This role is responsible for driving quality system robustness, leading problem-solving initiatives, supporting supplier development, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards. The engineer actively engages with process owners, customers, and suppliers to resolve issues, improve processes, and support product launches.
Major Responsibilities :
Lead, coach and follow-up on problem solving activities and development of corrective actions for quality concerns with manufacturing plants. Investigate customer concerns, develop containment activities, and coach 8D teams in implementation of both process and system countermeasures. Train and support deployment of quality tools including Control Plans, PFMEAs, Process Flows, APQP, and other quality tools and methodologiesManage the APQP process across multiple sites and actively participate in APQP activities for new product introductions and changes.Oversee gaging and measurement systems, ensuring metrology standards are upheld and continuously improvedManage quality data collection systems across all sites to ensure consistency, accuracy, and accessibility for analysis and reportingSupport onsite customer and supplier visits for high priority quality issues.Actively participate and assist manufacturing to ensure quality requirements are in compliance in daily operations.Travel up to 50% to support plants, suppliers & customers.Actively support and manage to Brazeways Code of Conduct.
What a candidate must have to be qualified for the role :
A Bachelors Degree in EngineeringWorking knowledge of traditional quality tools such as 5-Why, Ishikawa Diagram, SPC, capability analysis, 8D, MSA, APQP, PPAP and common gauging practices.Advanced problem solving skills.Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.Strong project management and planning abilities.Demonstrated discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, and procedures.Good written and oral communication skills to independently prepare and deliver presentations.Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Minitab, Proficient, and Axapta. Strong commitment to a team environment.Lean Six Sigma skills are a plus.
