We are looking for a highly skilled Buyer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, you will oversee tactical purchasing and planning activities, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with organizational goals. This position offers an opportunity to collaborate across departments to optimize inventory management and supplier relationships in the semi-conductor and electric component manufacturing industry.
Responsibilities :
- Issue purchase orders based on inventory levels, sales forecasts, and production schedules to meet delivery requirements.
- Monitor and address discrepancies in purchase orders, including unacknowledged or past-due orders, to prevent production delays.
- Participate in meetings to provide inventory updates, resolve issues, and support decision-making processes.
- Analyze component usage against forecasts to prevent overstock or stockouts, implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Assist the Accounting department in resolving invoice discrepancies and vendor payment issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the Quality department and suppliers to address non-conforming materials and facilitate rework or scrap activities.
- Lead inventory management projects and cost-saving initiatives to enhance profitability and improve inventory turnover.
- Support supplier setup processes and conduct annual evaluations, including quality metrics, delivery performance, and spend analysis.
- Represent the purchasing function during product development by sourcing new suppliers, managing RFQs, and rationalizing component selection.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Materials Manager to meet organizational needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles within a discrete manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in Material Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; experience with specific systems is preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Microsoft Project.
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and execute procurement strategies effectively.
- Experience in inventory planning and cost optimization initiatives.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to collaborate across departments.
- Familiarity with supplier evaluation processes and product development sourcing.
