Job Summary
The Logistics Packaging engineer will assist in optimizing logistics shipping processes related to Global Load Factor Improvement. This role will focus on ensuring efficient trailer and container utilization, material handling, and documenting operational process improvements within the global logistics network supporting a (USD)7M saving deliverable in 2026, aiming for an improvement to 80% container utilization from our current performance of 50%. The role involves leveraging Manufacturing / Freight Forwarder / 3PL / Supplier data analytics to identify trends and underutilized container origin locations, developing decision-support tools, and facilitating cross-functional collaboration to resolve systemic & operational issues. This role will partner with various teams to implement operational improvements, standardize pallet configurations, optimize packaging solutions. The PM will track and report site-level improvements, maintain content within a centralized community, and generate executive-level performance summaries.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement packaging and shipping solutions that maximize trailer utilization, streamline material handling, and reduce transportation costs across
Document and standardize shipping and receiving procedures using industry best practices for global deployment and operational consistency.
Partner with logistics operations, distribution centers, 3PLs, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure seamless integration of packaging solutions into end-to-end supply chain processes.
Ensure all packaging solutions meet internal and external standards for safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
nalyze logistics loading processes-including crating, decking, bracing / dunnage, and returnables-to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Define and standardize loading and unloading equipment requirements to support effective material handling across all global sites.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics packaging efficiency and global load factor performance.
Reports to Global Logistics, ensuring strategic alignment across cross-functional teams, facilitating container and trailer utilization.
Leverages Power BI analytics to identify trends, underutilized nodes and lanes, and drive continuous improvement in Load Factor Metrics (LFM), with a goal of improving baseline performance to an 80% utilization rate
Develops decision-support tools, including prioritization matrices, process maps, and implementation timelines to accelerate the rollout of load factor initiatives and inform site visit planning.
Prepares and participates in onsite events including Vendor / Supplier partners, Distribution Centers, and Manufacturing plants
Partners with Global & Area Transportation teams to ensure consistent operational execution of improvement plans at sites to drive measurable improvements in shipping efficiency.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics packaging or related engineering roles
bility to travel as required, up to 25%-50% domestically to
Strong understanding of packaging materials, design, and transportation / logistics
Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners (e.g., 3PLs, Freight Forwarders)
Proficiency in data analysis and performance tracking tools
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
Knowledge of global logistics standards and regulatory requirements is a plus
