Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position in an acute care setting, requiring a CA RN license and current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the Emergency Department of an acute care hospital with 24 beds and dedicated fast track area
  • Typical patient volume is approximately 250 visits per day with patient ratios of 2 : 1 and 4 : 1
  • Common cases include STEMI, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, ETOH, and a variety of emergent conditions
  • Unit is supported by a charge nurse (non-assigned), ER techs, 24 / 7 RT, 24 / 7 pharmacy, phlebotomists, and ED physicians / PAs / NPs
  • No trauma bays, inpatient pediatrics, or dedicated behavioral health unit
  • 12-hour night shifts with start times varying between 3p-7p and every other weekend required; weekend is Friday through Sunday
  • Holiday shifts are incorporated into the perm staff rotation and will be expected
  • Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR; experience preferred
  • Unit equipped with 22 hardwired GE monitors, in-room and at nurse station
  • No floating required
  • Must wear blue scrubs as per department dress code
  • Team support from ER techs and a non-patient-assigned charge nurse
  • One day unit-specific orientation provided
  • May be required to work holidays as part of staff rotation
  • Candidates may not have worked for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities as a direct employee in the past year
  • Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique testing required for some assignments before or during orientation; failure to pass after two attempts results in ineligibility for 6 months
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years emergency nursing experience required
  • Current certifications required : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Trauma experience preferred
  • Two professional references : one from a supervisor in the past 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor in the past 3 years
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Epic charting experience preferred but not required
  • First time travelers are welcome
