POSITION SUMMARY
The Operations Manager reports directly to the @the Grounds Director of Operations and collaborates closely with all departments. This position oversees the Conversions and Parking Teams, ensuring seamless event setups, efficient traffic flow, and consistent operational excellence across the campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to create structure and accountability within the team.
Success in this role is defined by the accuracy, timeliness, and safety of event setups; smooth parking operations with a positive guest experience; and strong cross-departmental collaboration that fosters confidence in the Conversions and Parking teams. The Operations Manager is expected to communicate effectively, maintain organization, and uphold high standards that reflect the quality and professionalism of @the Grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, schedule, and supervise all venue and room setups, ensuring they are accurately completed to meet event specifications. Walk setups to verify layouts, net heights, and equipment placement, ensuring readiness before client arrival.
- Schedule and track labor for the Conversions and Parking Departments to align with event needs and budgetary guidelines.
- Manage day-of parking execution, including staff placement, lunch breaks, traffic flow, and cash management, in coordination with Parking Supervisors.
- Lead and train Conversions and Parking staff to uphold safety procedures, service standards, and proper equipment use.
- Develop and maintain standardized processes for event setups, conversion checklists, and parking operations to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Foster collaboration and communication across departments by seeking clarity when needed, remaining open to feedback, and proactively addressing potential challenges.
- Monitor team performance and morale, ensuring staff feel supported, trained, and motivated to perform their best work.
- Maintain equipment and inventory, reporting any damages or shortages, and ensure work areas and storage spaces remain clean, safe, and organized.
- Track labor hours, operational expenses, and event data to assist in forecasting and decision-making.
- Assist in special projects and large-scale events as needed, demonstrating flexibility and reliability in a fast-paced environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.Proven leadership and people management skills, including staff supervision, training, and cross-departmental communication.Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams).Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service abilities.Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide solutions in dynamic event settings.Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in hospitality, event, or facility management preferred.Minimum of two (2) years of experience in events, operations, hospitality, or facility management.Prior supervisory experience required.Forklift and aerial lift certification preferred (training can be provided).Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
