Instrumentation & Electrical Project Engineer
We are currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Lemont, IL. As a Control Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, organization, and execution of project front-end loading and project design engineering.
This includes scope development, change control, cost estimating, cost control, and schedule development and compliance for all assigned projects.
In addition, you will provide technical support during construction and commissioning / startup to ensure correct installation.
You will also provide technical electrical and instrumentation support to other departments such as maintenance, operations, safety, and reliability.
Develop and maintain various project-related documents, such as Project Study Bass (FEL1), Project Study Report (FEL2), Project Design Basis (FEL3), and Authorization for Expenditure.
This includes ensuring all necessary backup documents are included, such as process specifications, project cost estimates, project economics and justification, project execution plan, project schedule, and design documents.
You will also manage documents like Management of Change, project startup audits, cost commitments vs. approved funding, and project closeout.
Execute detailed design and material purchases for assigned projects. This includes developing plot plans, layouts, 3D models, equipment specifications, and discipline engineering packages.
You will also ensure quality control of these documents and assist with procurement tasks like source selection, requirements, bid evaluation, and expediting.
Provide project execution coordination and assistance to various groups, including Process Engineering, Operations, and Construction.
You will contribute to tasks such as P&ID development, safety reviews, construction packages, and other related reviews and input.
- Monitor and report on project cost, cash flow forecasting, schedule performance, change order management, scope management and control, management of contract project engineering, and material quality checks.
- Establish project objectives and related performance standards, covering areas such as project schedule, quality, mechanical performance, safety of design and constructability, environmental performance, customer satisfaction, and legal / regulatory compliance.
- Build and lead a project team that will successfully implement the project and achieve the stated objectives.
- Provide engineering assistance with corporate / refinery standard engineering specifications, variance requests, and approvals.
You will also monitor variance frequency and revise standard engineering specifications as needed.
- Offer electrical and instrumentation support to maintenance, operations, and projects as assigned. Expectations include knowledge of electric trace, medium and low voltage power distribution, data communications, and instrumentation and controls design.
- Perform various other tasks as assigned, including leading / participating in root cause investigations and leading / participating in refinery and corporate teams and committees.
