Director of Health and Wellness role at YMCA of the USA – Greater Burlington YMCA, Burlington, VT.
The Greater Burlington YMCA is seeking a Director of Health and Wellness to lead our wellness programs and inspire healthier lives for youth, adults, seniors, and families in our community. This is a key leadership role responsible for developing innovative wellness programming, driving member engagement, and cultivating strong staff and community relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead wellness programs and initiatives that promote healthy living and engagement across all ages and demographics served by the branch.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate health and fitness initiatives to increase member retention and inclusivity.
- Engage members with personalized wellness coaching and orientation to build strong connections.
- Ensure safety by training staff on emergency protocols, overseeing equipment inspections, and maintaining a safe wellness environment.
- Build community by cultivating partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and YMCA departments to expand wellness opportunities.
- Monitor performance through program data, attendance, and member feedback to inform planning and improvement.
- Provide direct service on the wellness floor for at least two hours per week to stay connected with members and staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in health science, fitness, physical education, nutrition or a similar field.1-2 years of management experience.Experience with fitness equipment usage procedures and maintenance.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to provide excellent member engagement, listen, be attentive, problem-solve quickly and fairly.A team player with strong motivation and initiative.Ability to work with a diverse population of staff and members.CPR / First Aid certification required within the first 30 days of employment.Preferred Qualifications
Current fitness certificate from a nationally recognized organization (ACE, NCSA, AFAA, ACSM, etc.).Experience using database systems such as Daxko, ZoomShift, and MindBody.Completion of DEI-specific training or coursework (minimum 40 hours or equivalent college course).Work Environment and Physical Demands
