Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background working for an insurance company or within public accounting supporting insurance clients. This role supports the Director of Finance and leadership team, providing hands-on accounting, financial analysis, and process improvement across insurance and captive entities. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a strong understanding of PC insurance accounting and the ability to influence financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities :
- Manage accounting and financial reporting for captive and insurance entities, ensuring GAAP and insurance industry compliance.
- Review and reconcile cession statements, premium activity, and other insurance-related financial transactions to maintain an accurate audit trail.
- Analyze financial performance for new and existing insurance programs; summarize findings for senior leadership and external clients.
- Prepare and review journal entries, financial statements, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance audit readiness, data integrity, and overall accounting efficiency.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or Master’s in Accounting strongly preferred.Minimum 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years specifically in insurance accounting ( carrier / agency or insurance-focused public accounting).Deep understanding of PC insurance accounting concepts such as premiums, commissions, reserves, and holdback percentages.Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret and clearly explain financial results to both internal teams and external clients.Proven ability to work independently, think critically, and take initiative in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.Benefits :
