Overview
Software Engineering Manager, Account Services at Crunchyroll. This role leads the Account Services Team responsible for building and maintaining account services at massive, multi-million user scale, and ensures secure, reliable sign-up, login, and profile management services across web, mobile, living room devices, and game consoles.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Account Services Team responsible for building and maintaining account services at massive, multi-million user scale.
- Oversee the development and operation of secure, reliable sign-up, login, and profile management services—the “front door” to our ecosystem.
- Ensure seamless user experiences across multiple platforms (web, mobile, living room devices, game consoles).
- Drive technical excellence, scalability, and security in all account-related services to support Crunchyroll fans worldwide.
- Report to the VP of Service Monetization. This is a hybrid position based 3 days a week in our Los Angeles or San Francisco offices.
About You / Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.10+ years of engineering in building cloud-native applications with a strong backend and microservices focus.3+ years of experience in managing engineering teams.Proficiency in TypeScript, Go, Java, Python, and experience with modern frameworks and technologies.Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and experience building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-native applications.Ability to weigh technical tradeoffs to maximize impact and define product roadmaps with long-term goals.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners.A Day in the Life
Lead and mentor engineers to promote best practices, architectural standards, and scalability in a collaborative, high-performance environment.Manage day-to-day engineering operations, including scrum ceremonies (grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives).Define and execute the development roadmap with product and leadership to align with business objectives and customer needs.Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, incorporate feedback, and communicate project progress.Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery.Conduct regular one-to-one meetings for feedback and career development; monitor performance and productivity and implement improvements.Stay informed about industry standards, security practices related to subscriptions and payments.Partner with DevOps and other engineering managers to improve deployments and monitoring of cloud-native applications.Participate in hiring and onboarding to attract top talent.Benefits
