TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU / Critical Care RN in Lexington, North Carolina, 27292!

Must-Have :

2 years of ICU experience

Description :

RN - ICU urgently needed!

This position is for a critical care nurse.

The facility has a total of 96 licensed beds.

There is no trauma designation.

This is a teaching hospital, but there are no residents present.

The facility is designated as a primary stroke center.

The unit has 16 beds.

The average daily census is 10 patients.

ICU patient ratios are 2 : 1.

Intermediate care patient ratios are 3 : 1.

There is typically 1 CNA assisting on the unit, sometimes 2.

The patient population includes diagnoses such as ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke.

Required skills include art line management, vasoactive medication titration, vent management, and chest tube management.

Critical thinking is essential in this role.

Support staff includes a charge nurse and resource nurse on the unit.

Phlebotomy is also part of the duties.

Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7.

Hospitalist and intensivist services are covered 24 / 7.

Telemetry monitoring is available, but only as a back-up for rhythms.

The electronic medical record is EPIC.

IV pumps used include Alaris.

Medication dispensing is managed through Omnicell.

Monitors used are GE.

Unit-specific equipment includes a Bair Hugger, Verathon bladder scanner, and Blanketrol machine.

There may be opportunities to float to med-surg with a 4 : 1 ratio.

Weekend rotations are every other weekend.

Travelers will work 75% of holidays.

Scheduling operates on a six-week cycle.

Scrub color is royal blue.

The unit culture comprises many eager new graduates who benefit from the support of experienced nurses.

Strong nursing skills are essential for mentoring and building confidence in new staff.
