Safety Manager

AG Consulting Engineering, PC (AG) a design, engineering and construction management firm headquartered in New York is looking for a Safety Manager to support our client on an MTA project. Position : Safety Manager Location : New York City Project : Rail Transportation facilities This position is accountable for the development, direction, administration, monitoring, and coordination of the Project Safety Plan (PSP). The safety manager will assist in the planning, development, and controlling of major safety aspects of the construction of the project and provide oversight over the various contractor’s safety programs. Major duties and responsibilities include : Become familiar with the construction safety and security requirements of the program Establish key performance safety indices for all aspects of the project. Perform site safety and security reviews, including but not limited to construction equipment, personnel, work procedures, traffic control, etc. Works constructively with members of the project team to resolve project safety related issues. Provides recommendations to key staff members. Provide counseling and intervention to correct observed hazardous, at risk, or non-complaint work activities. Review identified uncontrolled hazards or security vulnerabilities with contractor supervision and establish an agreement regarding future compliant controls for identified hazards. Attends or conducts project safety meetings with each discipline involved as needed to ensure effective project control. When requested, respond to construction incident scene(s), and assist with major incident investigations. Complete a daily work report, including photographs, that outlines the work completed for the day Background and experience required :

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• At least 4 years direct hands-on experience in transit safety environment is preferred.
• Must have the following certifications up to date : o Site Safety Manager Certificate by NYDOB.
• Current certification in First Aid, and CPR o 30-hour OSHA completion certificate o Shall be familiar with the work being performed. o MTA Track Safety Training o Member of the ASSP (American Society Safety Professional)
• Transit Safety experience required (NYCT, PA, NJT, LIRR, etc.)
• Experience with safety and security programs, policies, standard operating procedures and / or emergency preparedness documents or programs to meet all necessary requirements.
• Exceptional reporting skills, including daily reports, incidental and near miss investigation reports, daily hazard reports and new employee orientations and briefing. A.G.
